Beautification Update | Fall/Winter 2024
The entrances at Mission Ridge and Brougham are basically on cruise control. The shrubbery and crepe myrtles are doing well. The plants need only weekly waterings and occasional fertilization. The periwinkles planted in April continue to look great. We plan to keep them in place until the first freeze knocks them out. In past years, we planted pansies once the periwinkles died. But the last few years, the pansies have not done well. This winter, we are forgoing the pansies. The money we save will be used to replenish the soil of the four planters which have settled over the years.
During the growing season (April-Oct), our landscapers mow both entrances weekly. In addition, once per month, the landscapers weed the planter boxes and medians. During the transitional months (March and November), the grass is mowed every other week. During the winter months, we stop the services altogether. In early spring, all the landscape receives its spring trimming.
I believe Carriage Hills has the most beautiful entrances of any voluntary homeowner’s association in Plano. This can only be achieved due to the generosity of those families who pay their annual dues. Thank you for helping keep our entrances looking so great!
Meet Mark Sternitzke
My family moved to Carriage Hills in June 2001. During these past 23 years, I’ve served on the Board for 11 years. I’ve held many of the positions including President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and now Beautification Chairman. My love for our neighborhood keeps bringing me back to volunteer my time and talents on the Board.
